Piet Middelkoop has been Van Ameyde’s Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of its Board of Directors since 2006. He joined Van Ameyde as Member of the Board and Managing Director of Van Ameyde UK in 2005. Piet Middelkoop is the engineer of Van Ameyde’s IT driven strategy which has facilitated the company’s spectacular growth over the past ten+ years. In his capacity as Chairman of the Board, Piet Middelkoop is responsible for Business Development strategy, IT strategy and development and mergers & acquisitions.
Holding a Master’s Degree in Public Administration of the University of Leiden, Piet held various senior roles during his career, including Managing Director (and co-founder) of KPMG FlexSourcing, Senior Manager at KPMG Management Services and Sector Manager Healthcare & Social Welfare at Cadans. In addition, Piet has been a non-executive Director of a mutual insurance company since 2014.

Since 2008, Carl Berends has held the roles of Chief Financial Officer and Member of the Board of Directors of Van Ameyde International. Since Carl joined Van Ameyde three years earlier as Director Finance & Staff, the company has grown spectacularly, from an annual turnover of some 50m to over 125m euros.
In his capacity as a member of the board, Carl Berends’ responsibilities comprise Finance, Risk & Compliance, Internal Audit and Human Resources. The respective department managers and directors report to him.
Before joining Van Ameyde, Carl held various roles at KPMG Management Services, including Senior Manager. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration of Windesheim Academy Zwolle.
As Chief Operating Officer Jan-Michiel Cillessen is responsible for all the operational aspects of Van Ameyde, with a main focus on claims management. To respond to Van Ameyde’s growth, diversification and market requirements, ensuring operational agility by means of excellent operations management is Jan-Michiel Cillessen’s primary objective.
Beside operations management and strategy development, Jan-Michiel Cillessen is responsible for the implementation of large and complex international contracts for insurers and risk managers, as well as the coordination of related IT development and implementation.
Trained in Information Management & Technology at Tilburg University, Supply Chain Management (IMD) and Finance (INSEAD), Jan-Michiel Cillessen’s previous roles include Managing Director Property & Casualty SME and Director Customer Services Non-Life at Nationale-Nederlanden, as well as some supervisory positions.
Bob de Bruijn
Bob de Bruijn has been appointed Member of the Board of Directors on 1 January 2019. In this role he is responsible for the (complex & commercial) Loss Adjusting Division, focussing on strategy and operations. The division offers a one-stop-shop service to commercial clients and their insurance providers in the areas of marine cargo, hull and machinery, commercial property, liability, CAR as well as electronics and computers.
In preparation of his current role, Bob de Bruijn joined Van Ameyde International on 1 September 2018 as a Director, before which he was the Regional Managing Director for the Benelux. In this position he pursued a successful growth strategy and expanded the Region’s service offering.
In 2009 Bob de Bruijn joined Van Ameyde. As an international project manager, Bob successfully completed various complex, cross-border projects and went on to become Business Development Manager in 2011 and subsequently Business Development Director for the Van Ameyde group. Under his leadership, the Business Development department grew substantially and secured an impressive number of pan-European contracts.
Trained in Economics & Business, Bob holds a Master’s Degree of the Erasmus University of Rotterdam. He completed his training with a Postgraduate programme at Fontainebleau.
Pieter den Dikken
On 1 January 2019 Pieter den Dikken stepped down as Board Member. In the capacity of advisor, Pieter den Dikken will continue to support the Van Ameyde Board of Directors with his expertise.
Until the end of 2018 Pieter den Dikken was responsible for the Loss Adjusting division, the subsidiaries of which specialise in complex and commercial losses. After an 11-year tenure, Pieter den Dikken stepped down as Chairman of the Board of Directors of Van Ameyde in 2006, but stayed on as a Board Member to strengthen the then newly formed Board in this particular area of expertise.
Having read Civil Engineering at Rotterdam Polytechnic (university of applied sciences), Pieter den Dikken embarked on an international career in structural and civil engineering and subsequently found his niche in the loss adjusting sector. His former roles include Managing Director of Thomas Howell Nederland, Deputy Managing Director of Thomas Howell Europe and International Executive Loss Adjuster of Cigna Insurance Company.
Based in Oslo, Heidi Mohaugen is responsible for all Van Ameyde’s entities in Norway, Sweden and Denmark. Having worked in the insurance industry for fifteen years, Heidi joined Van Ameyde in November 2016.
In her role of Regional Managing Director, Heidi focuses on operational agility as well as developing new business. Such new business ranges from self-service and straight-through-processing solutions to claims staff capacity solutions, such as secondment of experienced claims handlers.
Specialised in change management, Heidi Mohaugen holds a Bachelor of Management degree of the Norwegian Business School. She also read Marketing Communication and Business Economics. Her previous roles include Head of Business Development Claims at SpareBank1 Forsikring, Head of Business Development Life and various Project Management roles.
Having worked in the insurance industry for 17 years, David Wilson joined Van Ameyde UK (then Van Ameyde & Wallis) in May 2001 as Commercial Director. In this role he was responsible for business development in the United Kingdom and Ireland and strategic business acquisitions on a pan-European basis. In 2008 he was appointed Regional Managing Director with operational responsibility for Van Ameyde’s interests in the UK and Ireland.
David Wilson’s previous roles include motor fleet underwriter, claims & risk manager and regional manager at Crowe Insurance Group (Lloyd’s Syndicate 963). In these roles he acquired his competencies in operational management, business development and claims & risk management. Having read English Literature & Politics at Edinburgh University, David started his career in the insurance industry as claims handler at SMT Insurance Company.
In June 2015, Frank Verschuur assumed responsibility for Van Ameyde’s entities in France, Spain, Portugal, Italy and Greece as Regional Managing Director South-West. In this capacity Frank has incorporated several new companies. He is also responsible for major international client accounts.
Frank Verschuur started his career at Van Ameyde as a claims handler in 1998. Before returning to Van Ameyde as Managing Director of Van Ameyde España in 2008, Frank became the international commercial director at a food company and subsequently he joined the legal department of an international pharmaceutical company. In 2013 Frank became Managing Director of Van Ameyde Portgual, while maintaining his position in Spain.
Frank graduated in Banking & Finance and holds a law degree, his specialty being food law. When he moved to Spain in 1996 he completed his studies with a postgraduate in accounting and a master in marketing. Frank is a visiting lecturer in law and marketing at Spanish and international universities. In addition, he has published several articles.
Alexander Dietrich joined Van Ameyde in 2014, bringing with him more than 15 years of experience in the automotive and insurance services industry. Alexander is Managing Director of all German Van Ameyde entities and in his role of Regional Managing Director of Central Europe he also supervises our operations Austria, Switzerland, Hungary and Poland.
Alexander Dietrich holds a degree in Economy. After his graduation he started as a Management Trainee at a US-based corporate in the automotive industry and went on to hold several management positions in the operations and sales segment. In 2007 he switched to the claims management industry, leading the operations of a large international claims management company in Germany, Austria and Switzerland.
Marcel van Dijk
Marcel van Dijk was appointed Business Development Director at Van Ameyde International on 1 March 2019. In this role, Marcel is responsible for business development, marketing and international sales.
Marcel is a familiar face in the claims market and has a clear vision on innovation and customer orientation. In addition to his regular activities, he frequently acts as a keynote speaker and chairman at (international) conferences. For over ten years Van Ameyde has invested in and developed ‘low code’ platforms to make claims handling faster, cheaper and more customer-oriented. Building on Van Ameyde’s unique position, it is Marcel’s mission to make Van Ameyde the leading service provider in the (digital) transformation of the international claims market.
Marcel van Dijk has over fifteen years of experience in company transformations and commercial growth. For years he worked for the renowned strategy consultancy Nolan, Norton & Co. Some five years ago he made the change-over to CED in the role of Commercial Director, where he was the driving force behind the company’s rebranding and full service profiling.
Trained in Business Administration and Public Administration, Marcel holds a Master’s Degree of the Radboud University in Nijmegen, the Netherlands.
Willem van der Hooft
As from 1 March 2019, Willem van der Hooft is responsible for the Sales and Account Management of Van Ameyde’s SAAS solutions. Willem’s customer focus has resulted in the development of claims-related IT functionality such as property-claims platform ValueChecker and the incorporation of companies like Van Ameyde Interim Professionals – meeting temporary staffing needs of insurance claims departments – of which he has been Director since 2009.
Trained in business administration and business logistics, Willem van der Hooft’s previous roles include Business Development Director at Van Ameyde International, Commercial Director at Van Ameyde Benelux, Interim Manager at Yacht and Transatlantic Market Developer for Alaska Airlines and Horizon Air, for which he was based in Vancouver, Canada.

Bringing with him 16 years of finance experience, Martien Ariaans joined Van Ameyde in 2015, taking on the role of Finance Director. Martien leads the Finance department for the Van Ameyde group, focusing primarily on (financial) reporting, process enhancement and cash management.
Holding a master’s degree in Accounting & Auditing from Nyenrode University, Martien has an extensive background in Accounting & Auditing. Previous positions held by Martien include audit manager at Deloitte and various international financial positions in the services industry and manufacturing. Martien has lived in The Netherlands and Curaçao and worked in various countries around the globe.

In his role of Chief of Staff & Secretary of the Board of Van Ameyde, Pascal Dijkens is responsible for Risk & Compliance and Operations. For the Van Ameyde Holding he is responsible for, among other things, its governance, legal issues, plans and budgets.
His second area of responsibility is the company’s compliance with domestic and international legislation and regulations. Pascal Dijkens’ wide experience in the insurance industry and risk management in particular, help him take risk management at Van Ameyde to the next level.
Trained in business administration (MBA) and international management at the Rotterdam University of Applied Sciences, Pascal Dijkens’ previous roles include Head Operational Risk Management at Nationale-Nederlanden Non-life, Manager Internal Control at Nationale-Nederlanden Life, as well as Team Manager Corporate Pension/Financial Services and Team Manager Corporate Clients.

Michiel Kroeskamp joined Van Ameyde in 2010, bringing with him more than 17 years of experience in the (business) service industry. Michiel leads the Operations department for the group, primarily focusing on performance optimisation and the implementation of large international portfolios.
Michiel has a background in hotel management, as a managing consultant with KPMG and as an entrepreneur. He has lived and worked in Curaçao, Switzerland, Hungary, the UK and The Netherlands. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Hotel Administration from Hotelschool The Hague.
