Ginaf Rally Power (GRP, the Van Ameyde sponsored Dakar truck team, finished third overall in Dakar 2010. During the last stage to Buenos Aires on Saturday 16 January, Marcel van Vliet, Herman Vaanholt and Gerard van Veenendaal managed to secure their top 3 ranking. Thanks to their consistent performance during the entire Dakar 2010 rally, the team attracted attention from the international press for two whole weeks.

Wuf van Ginkel, Willem Tijsterman and Richard de Rooy, driving the second Van Ameyde sponsored GRP truck, also put in an excellent performance, despite the technical difficulties with which they were confronted. In the second week they improved their ranking considerably. On Saturday they even finished second, securing a sixth place overall.

The Van Ameyde Group has sponsored Ginaf Rally Power since 2008. In 2009 the Dakar rally was held in South America for the First time. Marcel van Vliet then managed to win a stage. This year the organisation made the route more suitable for the truck competition. In Dakar 2010 the trucks had more opportunities for overtaking manoeuvres, which were virtually impossible last year due to the narrow tracks.

GRP and Van Ameyde are well pleased with the excellent performance of both teams. “The rally remained exiting till the last. Spectacular driving, perseverance and teamwork have led to these excellent results,” said Cees Werff, Chief Commercial Officer of the Van Ameyde Group.
